We have the big four YuYu Hakusho characters inside our new YuYu Hakusho Inspired Workouts mini-database, and now we can bring in our behemoth: Younger Toguro!
You guys know I love trying to bring in one behemoth in per week so we can train to get BIG by lifting heavy, so Younger Toguro was perfect for this week considering we’re also trying to grow out our YuYu characters as well.
For a while we only had our Yusuke Urameshi Inspired Workout, but you guys made it pretty clear that needed to change.
So if it wasn’t clear: for this one we’re going to be training with weights, no calisthenics – because we’re looking to get massive.
Younger Toguro Stats:
Real Name: Younger Toguro
Height: 8’4 (Normal) 10′ (Demon Form)
Weight: N/A
Anime: YuYu Hakusho
Powers: Yes
Younger Toguro is without a doubt our newest member among our behemoths within our Anime Workouts Database.
And although they don’t have a weight listed for him, I think it’s pretty obvious how massive he is.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Younger Toguro Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Younger Toguro Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Younger Toguro I’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page that starts with this:
Younger Toguro, more commonly known as Toguro, is a major antagonist of Yu Yu Hakusho, specifically as the final enemy of the Spirit Detective Saga, and the main antagonist of the Dark Tournament Saga. He was the leader of both the Apparition Gang and Team Toguro, alongside his brother, Elder Toguro. He is also one of the archenemies of Yusuke Urameshi (alongside Suzaku, and Sensui).
From there we can immediately skip ahead and start talking towards his powers and abilities (there’s a ton of information).
To start, let’s talk about his Percentage Power:
Percentage Power: Toguro’s signature ability lies in his ability to regulate how much of his maximum power he releases, ranging from 0% to 100%. However, in the Dark Tournament in his final fight against Yusuke, as Yusuke employs the use of a full-powered Spirit Gun, Toguro goes beyond his normal limits by overexerting his 100% form; reaching 100% of 100% of his full power. With each increase comes a burst of Demon Energy and his muscles thicken and enlarge themselves. This ability drastically increases not only his strength, but also his speed and durability to the point where he able to take a direct hit from the Spirit Warriors leader’s axe and even Yusuke’s Spirit Gun. It also appears to change the size of his skeletal structure accordingly, increasing his height, width, and the length of his limbs. At full power, his appearance changes drastically; his skin shifts to a dark grey color with a somewhat ropy texture from its previously human appearance.
We’re going to be shooting for Toguro’s massive physique at his lower levels – not the upper levels that have him turning into Graveler from Pokemon.
That said, he has more powers and abilities we can break down as well:
Raw Power: The vast majority of Toguro’s attacks are sourced from his strength, thus negating the necessity of actual martial arts techniques despite Toguro often adopting a fighting stance during combat. Toguro’s strength is so immense that a single strike from his fist is capable of generating waves of demonic energy that are strong enough to destroy or damage his desired target and the surrounding area. Using 80% and above of his maximum power, this demonstration of raw strength is often characterized as red energy waves that Toguro can produce while punching. An example of this is when he used his strength to casually destroy the entire Dark Tournament fighting ring with a single blow. This power can also be used by simply extending his arm outwards while an energy blast erupts from it, as he demonstrated against Genkai before killing her. At 100% of his maximum power, Toguro does not need to exert himself as much due to his overwhelming growth in strength, speed and durability; in which he does not assume a fighting stance whilst simply adopting a more casual demeanor. His physical strength is enough to completely dominate over his opponent Yusuke Urameshi prior to the detective’s awakening as an Upper B Class opponent, in which he was able to block Yusuke’s punch with only his thumb and negate a Spirit Gun with a Kiai.
We could kind of assume that his power level was going to come from the insane amount of strength he has – even saying he was completely dominant over Yusuke.
From there they go on to talk about his Regeneration and Soul Absorption, but what I really want to discuss is his speed:
Superhuman Speed: Though he rarely used speed-based moves throughout the series, he demonstrated that he could move fast enough to not be seen and disappear, as he did when he invited Yusuke and his teammates to the Dark Tournament.
Thankfully for us we’ll be building speed while getting stronger, but this does mean we’ll want to add in some agility work to make sure we’re keeping agile as we tack on all of our mass.
The goals for our Younger Toguro Inspired Workout will be:
- Younger Toguro’s Massive Physique
- Younger Toguro’s Superhuman Strength
- Younger Toguro’s Superhuman Speed
All of which can be achieved with the right weightlifting routine that is going to have us turning into a behemoth.
That said, if this one is a bit too advanced for you to start off with you can also start with our Beginner Behemoth Workout and then work your way up to this one.
