We took a break from building out our Vinland Saga Inspired Workouts a bit as we waited to approach a new season release, and the time is finally coming.
For that reason I’m starting us off with another massive character: Thorgil!
And, I say massive because he’s extremely muscular, strong, and absolutely shredded – though he doesn’t stand up to our actual behemoth Thorkell.
Thorkell is among our behemoths inside our Anime Workouts Database, but Thorgil won’t be making it in there with him, as you’ll learn more about below.
That said, we’re still going to be training with weights in order to unlock a Thorgil physique and performance level.
Thorgil Stats:
Real Name: Thorgil
Height: 5’7
Weight: 165 lbs.
Anime: Vinland Saga
Powers: No
I originally thought Thorgil was super tall like Thorkell, but he’s actually pretty short (although he’d still be considered around average height compared to male anime characters).
He’s also pretty light at 165 pounds, and even at his height range I expected that to be higher based on his mass.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Thorgil Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Thorgil Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Thorgil I’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page starting with what they give us for his bio section:
Thorgil The older brother of Olmar and oldest son of Ketil. A man who has seen many battlefields. His ruthlessness frightens even his own father.
And being that it’s relevant to what we’re working with here I also want to share the bit about his appearance as well.
You’ll have to take a look at the images of his shredded physique in the manga as well, but here’s what they tell us in his Fandom page:
Thorgil emanates an intimidating presence of a man who is accustomed to battle with scars marking his entire body, including several on his face, the most notable of which is the scar running diagonally across his lips. He has long hair and a beard and no eyebrows.
In order to keep us going we’ll have to jump over to his VS Battles Wiki Fandom to discuss his physical abilities, which we can kind of guess at, but it’s still good to have some kind of breakdown.
Here’s what they give us:
Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Skilled Sword User, Skilled in unarmed combat
Attack Potency: Wall level (Able to butcher several vikings on his own, fought King Canute and would have killed him had he not been stopped)
Speed: Possibly Subsonic+ (Able to blitz vikings and instantly cut off their limbs/kill them)
Lifting Strength: At least Peak Human
Stamina: High, able to fight several vikings on his own and show no signs of exhaustion. Even after a sword stabbed through his wrist, he was able to keep fighting and was shown later to be still alive and doing very well.
We’re dealing with an extremely powerful character.
The goals of our Thorgil Inspired Workout are:
- Thorgil’s Shredded Muscular Physique
- Thorgil’s Superhuman Physical Abilities
- Thorgil’s Speed and Strength
As I mentioned above: we’ll be using weights to accomplish these goals, so if you were looking for bodyweight training you can jump into our Calisthenics Workouts or even head over and start with our Beginner Ninja Workout.
But, if you’re okay with weight training, you’re in the right place.
This one will be capable of being scaled, but if it seems a bit daunting you can start with our Beginner Behemoth Workout instead and work your way up to this one.
