Morel Mackernasey is humongous.
We haven’t had an addition to our Hunter X Hunter Inspired Workouts in a while and I wanted to bring one in and recently was reminded of how insanely muscular Mackernasey is.
I was casually scrolling through TikTok and bam, in my face, as jacked as some of the other insane behemoths within our Anime Workouts Database.
He’s also a great addition to our Hunter X Hunter characters in general considering we have a lot of leaner characters that haven’t been entirely focused on gaining mass, other than some like Uvogin and a few others.
He also didn’t quite make it onto our list of the most powerful Hunter X Hunter characters, but definitely deserves a spot among the runner ups.

Real Name: Morel Mackernasey
Height: Fan Guesstimate: 6’6-6’10
Weight: N/A
Anime/Manga: Hunter X Hunter
Powers: Yes
We don’t have an exact height for Morel, but we do know he’s up there with our other behemoths.
I went and looked up some fan guesstimates and most had him close to 7 ft.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.

Morel Mackernasey Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.

Morel Mackernasey Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Morel we’ll be pulling from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with what they give us for his bio section here:
Morel Mackernasey is a Single-Star Sea Hunter who uses a giant smoking pipe and smoke as weapons, and was one of the members of the Chimera Ant Extermination Team. He is also the master of both Knuckle Bine and Shoot McMahon.
This doesn’t really help us too much outside of the fact that we already know Morel is gigantic, but we’ll move down into his abilities as well.
His Fandom starts off by giving us some fun information about his overall abilities:
Morel has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. He is both a good strategist and an experienced, resourceful fighter. He uses his pipe not only for his Nen abilities but also as a melee weapon, which he swings single-handedly and without effort despite its weight. He also possesses an unmatched lung capacity and strong spirit. By his own claim, his abilities work better as support and he doesn’t think of himself as a very strong fighter; in spite of this, he strategically defeated two powerful Squadron Leaders. By increasing the size of his muscles, he can enhance his strength and defense in preparation for a strong attack. He displayed this ability when testing the power of Gon’s Rock after the latter recovered his Nen. He is also valued by the Zodiacs for his navigation abilities, taking it upon himself to steer their ship in the waters of the Dark Continent.
We clearly know we’re dealing with an extremely powerful character, but we also want to pull some specific information as well.
One thing we can pull directly from this piece before we move on is the piece they say here: “By increasing the size of his muscles, he can enhance his strength and defense in preparation for a strong attack.”
We won’t be able to do this as quickly as Morel, but this will be a basis for the overall routine we build.
To pull some more information and move into our overall goals we’ll pull another bit of Morel’s abilities section here:
Enhanced Strength: Morel can wield his giant pipe as a club without effort, both with one and two hands, and even lift it with just two fingers. His clone, whose power is allegedly much lower than Morel’s, could single-handedly stop Cheetu in spite of the latter’s leg strength. With a single swipe of his pipe, he was able to send one of Neferpitou’s controlled humans flying into the distance.
Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: After being repeatedly struck by Cheetu’s fast punches, he was able to see Cheetu’s movements and rapidly got accustomed to his speed. A clone of him managed to easily intercept an arrow shot by Cheetu at mid-range.
Advanced Agility: Morel can run on the rooftops and jump from one to another while carrying his huge pipe on his back.
Superhuman Lung Capacity: As a Sea Hunter, Morel has excellent lungs, allowing him to stay underwater for an extended period of time without taking any breath. He is confident that they are second to none. It is his proficiency in apnea that helped him win the battle against Leol in an underground church filled with water, first by letting him stay safe at the bottom, then by allowing him to exhale immense quantities of carbon dioxide to poison his opponent. Despite emitting enough of it to fill a good portion of a church, he managed to swim without breathing long enough to escape the maze-like building.
For the superhuman lung capacity we’re going to read that, for us, as superhuman endurance.
That makes our goals pretty easy.
The goals for our Morel Mackernasey Inspired Workout are going to be:
- Morel’s Gigantic Aesthetic and Muscular Physique
- Morel’s Enhanced Strength and Speed
- Morel’s Superhuman Lung Capacity
To be clear: the main goal for this one is to gain mass and get strong.
The speed will come with the strength training and we’ll also tack on some extra endurance work, but the main goals are Morel’s size and strength.
This one is going to be fairly high volume, but also shouldn’t be that hard to scale down if needed.

Morel Mackernasey Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5-6 days per week
For this one we’re going to be training with weights five days a week and then adding in HIIT circuits, endurance work and extra core work on top of certain days for a full split. I’ll also be giving you guys an Saiyan Army General Circuit Test, which will be higher intensity inspired circuit workout that you can complete weekly, biweekly or monthly.

Morel Mackernasey Workout: Hunter Endurance Work
For your endurance, HIIT or MMA/Parkour days you have quite a few options.
You can utilize enforced endurance training that I will program for you based on your fitness level like we do with other workouts here at SHJ…OR you can do 45-60+ minutes of varied cardio (bike, treadmill, elliptical, stairs, row, swim, etc.)…OR you can even use the HIIT resources I’ll provide.
I’ll break it down in that order:
Option One – Run Based on Overall Fitness Level:
Beginner: 1-3 Miles
Intermediate: 3-5 Miles
Advanced: 5+ Miles
