It’s time to bring in some more Baki characters.
Izou is one of the most powerful Baki characters of all time, so it’s only right he gets added to our Baki Inspired Workouts as soon as possible.
He was actually requested quite a few times, which also helps to bump him up the list and make him a priority this week.
I hope to see him get some more screen time in the future, but for now I’m okay with his character at least getting SOME sort of appearance (even if it was only for a short fight) in the recent Netflix anime.
Either way I’m sure you guys are going to be excited getting him as a result on the Baki Workout Placement Quiz.
Izou Motobe Stats:
Real Name: Izou Motobe
Height: 5’7
Weight: 176 lbs.
Anime: Baki
Powers: No
Izou is actually quite short. Although technically if we compare him to our other anime male characters he’s not THAT short, and he’s almost in an average range.
To be fair, though, he is still dwarfed by a ton of our behemoths within our Anime Workouts Database.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Izou Motobe Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Izou Motobe Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Izou Motobe we’re going to be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page.
They lead us off with this for his initial bio section:
Izou Motobe is a fictional character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. He is an old Japanese jujutsu master. In the first series, Motobe starts training Baki for his fight. He once lost to Yuujiro and now develops new techniques to use in a fight.
They also go on to tell us a bunch about his overall abilities.
Starting with this section about his skills (before moving into his physical strength in relation to them):
Motobe is a very skilled martial artist. He is also one of the most pragmatic warriors in the series. While Motobe is, by the beginning of Baki-Dou, considered by almost all the main characters to be one of the weakest fighters among them, he quickly demonstrates that his skill as a warrior ranks him near the top. It’s thanks to his high combat intellect that he is able to stand up to monsters like Jack Hanma and Musashi Miyamoto. He easily bests Baki Hanma in a one on one, though he says that if he had struck with intent to kill Baki would have reacted more quickly. He also manages to escape from Yuujiro, the latter in a flying rage.
We have actually seen a handful of the characters they mention here at SHJ.
We’ve had our Jack Hanma Inspired Workout, our Musashi Miyamoto Inspired Workout and even our Yujiro Hanma Inspired Workout – all of which are some of the strongest characters in the entire anime.
From there they go on to talk about how he is actually weapon reliant:
Motobe is physically weaker than most of the other fighters, so he is bound to lose in a fair fight. Like the death row convicts, he is heavily weapon-reliant. While Izou isn’t the greatest hand-to-hand fighter in the way that the Maximum Tournament required, when you put Izou in a pure fight where there are no rules and anything and any weapon goes, Izou is incredibly deadly. Despite Ryuukou Yanagi knocking out and poisoning Baki as well as going toe to toe with Gouki, he was easily defeated and nearly killed by Izou. Motobe is more like a warrior instead of being a fighter. He using traditional Japanese weapons to fight, such as shurikens, wooden sword, tanto, brass knuckle and kusarigama, he even using a smoke bomb to make a surprise attack. Motobe wears a chain mail made of aramid fibers, which is made for plane and car’s tire. He is also very strong, as he could make a throw just by grabbing Musashi’s leg. He could defeat Musashi Miyamoto by using a choke hold despite being cut in his right arm and both of his legs.
We aren’t going to be learning to work with weapons – let’s lead with that.
Although, while they say he is physically weaker than most fighters, that doesn’t mean he isn’t strong as they do go on to recognize his overall strength.
When you’re dealing with insanely strong characters that we see within Baki it’s easy to come across “physically weaker” characters, but in this case we do need to recognize the fact that Izou is extremely versatile to go with his overall strength level.
For that reason we’ll still be training with weights to build his muscular physique, but we’ll scale it back a bit from where we would be for a workout like our Biscuit Oliva Inspired Workout.
So be ready to lift heavy and train hard, but don’t be worried if you’re not ready to train like one of the strongest creatures alive.
