It’s time to bring in another Zoldyck assassin to join the others inside our Hunter X Hunter Inspired Workouts.
Next up on the list is Killua’s older brother Illumi!
We’ve already seen Killua’s father and grandfather, but Illumi is the next up, definitely deserving his spot.
He didn’t quite make it into our list of the most powerful Hunter X Hunter characters or even the most popular Hunter X Hunter characters, but among the side characters he’s definitely a fan favorite and a character that we know is clearly extremely powerful.
Being a Zoldyck in Hunter X Hunter is almost like being a Uchiha in Naruto!
We definitely won’t be training to look like Gittarackur, but be ready to get lean and muscular like Illumi!
Illumi Zoldyck Stats:
Real Name: Illumi Zoldyck
Height: 6’1
Weight: 150 lbs.
Anime: Hunter X Hunter
Powers: Yes
Illumi is actually pretty tall compared to other male anime characters
He actually only just misses what we’d consider a behemoth among our Anime Workouts Database.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Illumi Zoldyck Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Illumi Zoldyck Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Illumi we’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page starting with what they tell us about his background information here:
Illumi Zoldyck is the eldest child of Silva and Kikyo Zoldyck. During the 287th Hunter Exam, he appeared under the guise of Gittarackur. At Hisoka’s request, Illumi joins the Phantom Troupe as Uvogin’s replacement, becoming Troupe member #11. He served as a secondary antagonist of the Hunter Exam arc and the primary one of the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc.
For Illumi we can actually move directly into his powers and abilities section being that there is so much to cover.
They start us off with a large section discussing his overall power level:
Illumi has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. Furthermore, as a member of the Zoldyck Family, he has vast wealth and capable underlings at his disposal. His family name alone is enough to scare those familiar with it. Hisoka rates Illumi’s overall power 95 points, ranking him higher than some members of the Zodiacs. Thanks to his training, he possesses rare abilities such as strong resistance to poison, high tolerance to electricity, great agility and physical strength, and advanced armed and unarmed combat techniques. He was able to single-handedly wipe out a squadron of more than 20 amateur Hunters without any of them managing to press the emergency button. He might have superhuman control over his body, as he told Hisoka he was going to sleep for five days. Illumi is also a very skilled impersonator, and he seems to be able to conceal his strength and other aspects that might give him away when disguised since he managed to fool Killua and the Phantom Troupe. This skill is seemingly accompanied by the ability to hide his real power, as none of the Examiners seemed to be aware of his capacities until he revealed himself in the last phase.
From there they begin moving into a bunch of the information we’ll be using to write this workout.
Here’s how they break down some of his physical abilities:
Enhanced Speed: While the true extent of Illumi’s physical abilities is unknown, he is at least fast enough to run through a crowd and stick his needles into multiple targets without being noticed. His speed allowed him to kill a group of Hunters before any of them could ask for help.
Advanced Stamina: Illumi was able to complete a long-distance run more than 80 kilometers long, and taking place on uneven terrains such as ascending stairs and a swamp, without breaking a sweat.
Immense Pain Tolerance: Illumi did not flinch when Gon broke his arm; afterward, he exhibited no visible distress from the pain.
High Intelligence: Illumi is able to formulate accurate predictions as seen concerning Alluka’s power since he was able to completely understand the method in which Killua’s wishes were granted with no further consequences.
The bulk of this workout is going to be built on achieving assassin-like qualities but also training around his enhanced speed and stamina.
Before we go over the specific goals I’ll share a bit more about him, specifically his Nen, to really do his character the justice he deserves:
Illumi is a Manipulator* and has an incredibly sinister Ren which can at least be felt from a distance of several hundred meters. His aura is so powerful that, if injected into a normal person, it will cripple them for life. His Nen abilities allow him to change his physical appearance, control the dead and the living alike with overpowering mind and body control, and influence others with subtler types of Manipulation, a range of applications that suggests a great mastery over this Nen category. He might have made a different use of Manipulation when he closed a hole in the ground seemingly without touching it, moving the soil with Nen. Illumi appears to have abundant aura reserves, since, despite coercive Manipulation being rather taxing, he is capable of controlling dozens of targets at the same time.
Which now brings us directly into our goals.
The goals for our Illumi Zoldyck Inspired Workout are:
- Illumi’s Enhanced Speed and Stamina
- Illumi’s Lean and Toned Muscular Physique
- Illumi’s Assassin Abilities and Control
If you didn’t already know: we’ll be training using calisthenics for this but we’re also looking to get fast and build up our endurance, so be ready to tack on the cardio in there as well.
This routine is advanced, but can be scaled down to an intermediate level quite easily with rest periods.
That said, if you are a beginner you probably want to start with our Beginner Ninja Workout and then build your way up to this one!
