We’ve already seen The Most Powerful Anime Characters of All Time here at SHJ, but now it’s time to specifically talk about the female stars of these series!
We’re going to be breaking down The Most Powerful Female Characters of All Time.
For the main list we had twenty five different characters, but for this one we’re going to cover fifteen and then a ton of runner-up characters (more than a dozen!).
The reason I’m going to break it up like this is because I want to be able to keep it limited to one character per anime throughout the main list and then hit any double ups on the runner up section.
We’ll be seeing a good handful of double ups in the runner up section, actually.
But we can worry about that then.
There are some thing we should talk about before we get into this list, though – like how I am breaking it down, things I considered, and how I went about creating it in general:
- The characters are not specifically “the most powerful” directly compared to one another, although sometimes the rankings are broken down that way – they are more-so broken down by how powerful they are in relation to their own anime and world.
- I am building this list based on a compilation of rankings all over the internet, votes from The SHJ Academy members, and also votes pulled from our main SHJ Army list as well.
- The main list is in specific order how overall power level both in relation to their own anime/world and slightly in relation to the amount of power they’re capable of having in comparison to the whole list (how over-powered they are in general).
- The runner-up section is not in any specific order.
We’ve actually also seen The Top Ten Most Powerful Female Superheroes of All Time – but one of our SHJ Army members specifically asked for female anime characters, so I wanted to get it up as soon as I could fit it in!
As you’ll notice: we don’t actually have all of the characters inspired workouts within our Anime Workout Database just yet, but I’ll be coming back and adding the links here over time as they are added to the site.

MOST POWERFUL FEMALE ANIME CHARACTERS
Number Fifteen: Sailor Moon
Anime: Sailor Moon
Starting off our list of The Most Powerful Anime Females of All Time we’re talking about Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon, AKA Usagi Tsukino is the de facto leader of The Solar System Sailor Senshi!
Sailor Moon is an anime I knew I absolutely needed to include on the list because it has inspired SOOOO many members of our SHJ Army to get out and start moving and the progression of the show into new adaptions we’re now getting just goes perfectly with what we’re creating here among all different age groups and training levels.
Tack that on top of the fact that Sailor Moon is obviously strong in her own right – and she’s perfect to get our list started.

Number Fourteen: Genkai
Anime: Yu Yu Hakusho
Next up on the list of the most powerful female anime characters is Genkai from Yu Yu Hakusho!
I am a HUGE Yu Yu Hakusho fan – even though it may not be obvious from the fact that it took me so long to get our Yusuke Urameshi Inspired Workout and Hiei Inspired Workout here at SHJ.
Genkai was the master and trainer of our spirit detectives Yusuke and Kazuma. She was also considered to be one of the most powerful characters in the series.
Her Wiki Fandom page says: “In her prime, it can be argued that Genkai was above B Class. She was consistently been noted to be one of the most powerful characters in the series and Yusuke would not be half as powerful if it were not for her training and Spirit inheritance.”

Number Thirteen: Akame
Anime: Akame Ga Kill
I’m super excited we have a character from a Netflix Series coming in on our most powerful anime female characters list – and Akame EASILY takes this slot, with arguments definitely being valid for being within the top ten.
Akame is extremely powerful, and her Wiki Fandom page breaks down some of her training and abilities as such: “Due to being raised and trained by Gozuki one of the Four Rakshasa Demons and one of the Empire’s most deadliest assassin for the majority of her childhood, Akame has displayed several superhuman level physical attributes such as superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, senses and durability due to the rigorous training regiment Gozuki put her through that primarily involved training and raising her within the Danger Beast infested wilderness mountains that eventually lead to her current physical build and skill level.”
They also tell us that she is usually regarded as one of the strongest members of the Night Raid and can slay some of the most powerful enemies with minimal effort.

Number Twelve: Big Mom
Anime: One Piece
Coming in at number twelve is our first villain among the most powerful female anime characters, but not the last.
Big Mom is also the One Piece female character I decided to place on the list because of her overwhelming power among all One Piece characters in general (I personally think she comes in at top five among characters overall).
Her Wiki Fandom breaks it down like this: “As one of the Four Emperors, Big Mom is one of the four most powerful pirates in the world. As the only female member, this effectively makes Big Mom the single most powerful female pirate in the world. The Five Elders have stated that she is one of the few people capable of stopping Blackbeard. When her fellow Emperor Kaido, known as the strongest creature in the world, threatened to kill her if she came to his territory, Big Mom simply invited him to try and said he would not be able to dissuade her. Even the Straw Hat Pirates recognize that she could crush them quickly and easily if they fought her recklessly.”

Number Eleven: Mereoleona Vermillion
Anime: Black Clover
Coming in at number eleven among the most powerful female anime characters is Mereoleona Vermillion from Black Clover!
We just recently added our Yami Inspired Workout to our Anime Workout Database after only having our Asta Inspired Workout for a while – but you guys have made it clear that you want more and more Black Clover and Mereoleona is definitely a strong female to work with!
Her Wiki Fandom tells us: “Mereoleona is regarded as the strongest Magic Knight within the Clover Kingdom. Having spending most of her time in wild, she attained her own unique fighting strength that she regarded more as a warrior instead of a mage. Her presence has been known to intimidate many individuals, including her fellow Magic Knight captains, even Shogo a very skilled Watcher from Menou was scared of her.”
Among Black Clover’s most powerful characters you will usually find her easily making the top ten and sometimes even making it into the top five!
Mereoleona Vermillion at SHJ:
Number Ten: Yoruichi Shihoin
Anime: Bleach
Just missing the top ten most powerful female anime characters of all time is our Bleach babe Yoruichi!
Along with being the former captain of the 2nd Division of the Gotei 13 AND the former commander of the Onmitsukido – she is also one of the strongest characters in the Bleach series.
Her Wiki Fandom breaks down her “Shunpo Master” section by saying: “Shunpo Master: Considered to be the most proficient Hohō master ever in all of Soul Society, Yoruichi is immensely skilled in the use of Shunpo. Yoruichi holds the title “Flash Goddess”, because she has mastered this ability to the point where she can appear to be in several places at once and wipe out an entire Onmitsukidō squadron in seconds.”

Number Ten: Asuna
Anime: Sword Art Online
Coming in at number ten and just slicing her way into the top ten most powerful female anime characters of all time is Asuna from SOA!
Her placement in the top ten is due to her power level among the overall characters in the series, as she usually easily comes in within the top three alongside Kirito and usually one other randomly placed super-strong character (like Eugeo or Heathcliff, for example).
That being said, I can see an argument being made for her being within the top fifteen instead of ten, but I think her power level in SOA gives her easy placement here and makes it extremely hard to say otherwise if trying to take her off the list altogether.
Yuuki Asuna at SHJ:
Number Eight: Neferpitou
Anime: Hunter X Hunter
Next up on the list and falling into the top ten strongest female anime characters of all time is a character we just recently saw on two other lists: Neferpitou.
Pitou is one of The Chimera Ant Royal Guards in Hunter X Hunter and she came in as one of the most popular Hunter X Hunter characters of all time AND made the list at number four among the most powerful Hunter X Hunter characters as well!
Here’s how her Wiki Fandom describes her insanely strong power level: “Neferpitou is one of the most powerful Chimera Ants to live, and one of the strongest characters in the series. They fought and killed Kite, a powerful Pro Hunter, while suffering only minor injuries, and shortly after discovering Nen. Illumi referred to Neferpitou as Meruem’s “top soldier”. Despite intending to kill them, the King was only able to bruise Neferpitou with one of his tail strikes, which caused him to praise the Royal Guard.”

Number Seven: Mikasa Ackerman
Anime: Attack On Titan
Coming in at number seven with our most powerful female anime characters of all time is Mikasa Ackerman!
Mikasa Ackerman is actually one of my favorite female anime characters of all time and I think she is easily one of the most motivating as well.
Among some of the other females on this list she has helped motivate thousands of SHJ Army members to start working out, and we even recently featured some of her best quotes for inspiration here at SHJ.
It was hard to place Mikasa being that she doesn’t actually have powers and abilities that come anywhere near most members on this list, BUT, she is overwhelmingly powerful among the Attack on Titan characters.
She once said: “I Am Strong. Stronger Than All Of You. Extremely Strong. I Can Kill All The Titans Out There.” – and she wasn’t kidding.
Mikasa is a force to be reckoned with and definitely in the strongest characters in the series with the titans and her brother Levi.

Number Six: Mirko
Anime: My Hero Academia
Just missing the top five and coming in at number six among the most powerful female anime characters is Mirko – our top five ranked My Hero Academia pro hero!
Mirko is the fifth rank pro hero after All Might’s retirement, and her powers are endless! She’s JACKED and considered “The Rabbit Hero” with enhanced strength, speed, and agility on top of her Quirk abilities.
Coming in at number five among all heroes in MHA is a big reason for her placement as she ranked higher above hundreds of other heroes and proves herself to be one of the strongest characters in the entire series of extremely strong characters.

Number Five: Izumi Curtis
Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist
Making it into the top five most powerful female anime characters of all time is Izumi Curtis!
It’s hard to place some of these characters when at first glance a female hero like Mirko might seem so much stronger than Izumi, but when you really dive into it: Izumi is easily one of the top five strongest alchemists within the entire Fullmetal Alchemist series.
One source tells us this after placing her at number five among FMA characters: “Izumi Curtis taught Edward and Alphonse everything she knows about alchemy, and she’s a force to be reckoned with — and was even more intimidating before she attempted human transmutation and obtained injuries that destroyed most of her internal organs.”
Not only is Izumi one of the most powerful alchemist but she’s also incredibly strong in hand to hand combat and physical strength – with her Wiki Fandom even calling her one of the strongest in the series in that category as well: “Izumi is one of the physically strongest characters in the series, being extremely powerful in both terms of armed and hand-to-hand combat.”

Number Four: Erza Scarlet
Anime: Fairy Tail
Making it into the top five at number four among the most powerful female anime characters of all time is Erza Scarlet!
Not only is Erza Scarlet extremely powerful, but her role in Fairy Tail among other insanely strong female characters is what made me feel she deserves a spot in the top five.
Add that on top of the fact that she inspires sooo many female members of The SHJ Army and I think I was also slightly biased in her placement – but I’m not mad about it!
Erza’s list of powers and abilities is one of the longest we’ve ever had to work with out of characters we’ve built routines around, and that’s including characters like Goku! Her power is endless in so many different areas – making her definitely deserving of a spot on this list.

Number Three: Vados
Anime: Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Z has some insanely powerful female characters. I even named three more in our runner up section below, and wanted to keep on naming!
BUT, there’s no doubt that Vados deserves her slot as number three among the most powerful female anime characters of all time.
Part of me wanted to push her up to the number two slot, but I took into consideration her role in the entire series and I think this is a more fair placement among our female characters – regardless of her overall power level.
Vados is like Whis, except from Universe 6. Her Wiki Fandom describes her power level as such: “Being Champa’s martial arts teacher, Vados is extremely powerful. Her level of power is even much greater than that of Champa’s own, making her the strongest being in Universe 6. Vados claims to be slightly stronger than Whis, but Whis objects and tells her that it has been already a millennium since they trained together, indicating that when they trained together, Vados held superior power over her younger brother. It appears, nevertheless, that Vados is at least Whis’s equal in Combat at the present time. Despite Whis’s objection, Vados confidently asked him to see which one of them is stronger now.”

Number Two: Tatsumaki
Anime: One Punch Man
Coming in at number two among the most powerful female anime characters of all time is Tatsumaki: the most powerful esper in the entire One Punch Man series.
She is also one of the most powerful heroes in the entire series and almost always ranked within the top three most powerful female anime characters.
On top of her esper abilities she also has incredible speed, reflexes, stamina and overall endurance as a hero – making her a super fun character to have also built a training regime around for you guys.
Her esper powers, psychokinesis, flight, barriers, and telepathy just make her an overwhelming strong female character that I’ve even seen some lists have in their top slot!
Tatsumaki at SHJ:
Number One: Kaguya
Anime: Naruto
Kaguya was our most powerful Naruto character of all time and now also comes in as our most powerful female anime character of all time as well!
While the majority of the Naruto fanbase hates her, it’s hard to disregard her power level. One source describes it as: “The literal deus ex machina of the entire series, Kaguya, was the rabbit-demon puppet master pulling all the strings the whole time. The alien mother of the Sage of the Six Paths, it was Kaguya who first created and dispersed chakra. This gave her god-like powers, including flight, the ability to merge herself with nature, change environments, dimension-hopping, telepathy, chakra absorption, regeneration and the ability to create. In combat, she can use her bones as weapons and even a scratch from them will reduce a target to ash. She can shoot needles out of her hair and control its length and density.”
