We’re here to talk about the best anime to watch on Hulu.
We’ve seen some pretty awesome listicles at SHJ, but now I have TWENTY FIVE of the best anime series to watch on Hulu, AND workout routines inspired by characters from every single one of them…!
We had some pretty awesome listicles hit SHJ recently and you guys left some comments asking about my top picks for both Hulu and Netflix, so I decided to do some mega listicles with all the best shows for you guys to take advantage of.
As you guys are well aware I’m not only a weeb, but I’m also a huge nerd and I read and watch everything in sight; from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones – all the way to all the anime and superhero shows you can imagine!
That being said, I feel like I have a pretty good couple of lists for you, starting with sooooo many amazing options on Hulu.
Whether you’re new to anime and looking for the best series to start with on Hulu, or just looking to see some of the very best without having to dig through all the search features that aren’t always the easiest to navigate: this list is definitely going to help.
Here’s how I’m breaking it down:
- Outside research of the most popular and “best” anime on Hulu from other perspectives, lists and rankings.
- My own bias of my favorite shows (that typically are right there with popular opinions).
- SHJ Academy recommendations on specific shows that are a MUST to be added to this list.
- The amount of workouts we have for the given show.
And then I’m typing all that together and throwing it into one big listicle. So there’s by no means some super accurate ordering for this one (especially because there are so many amazing options), but when we get to the top ten you’ll really start seeing some fan favorites, AND my favorites.
If you’re also interested in some other awesome listicles we have had here recently you can check out:
- The Most Powerful Anime Characters of All Time
- The 10 Most Popular Anime of All Time
- The 10 Most Powerful Superheroes of All Time
And there’s a ton of other listicles, and hundreds of workouts within our Workout Database and even our Anime Workouts Database if you’d like to segment it to just anime inspired routines.
Okay, let’s get into it!
BEST ANIME TO WATCH ON HULU
Number Twenty Five: Pokemon
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 45-48 each
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 2-3
Coming in first on the list is Pokemon!Â
You have a couple options of which one you want to watch, and I decided to start off with this one because it’s not the “typical” anime people are going to be looking for when they come to this list (at least I don’t think so from my own experience); but I still feel it deserves it’s spot.
We even have a handful of cosplay oriented workout routines that are inspired by some of our favorite characters!
Pokemon Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Twenty Four: Sailor Moon
Seasons on Hulu: Regular = 5, Crystal = 3
Episodes on Hulu: Regular = 200, Crystal = 39
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 2
Sailor Moon was one of our first requests at SHJ after having a handful of DBZ inspired routines hit the site.
Sailor Moon is definitely a typical “oldie but goodie” that got a ton of people into anime growing up and led into so many more anime series the same way shows like Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade and even Yu Yu Hakusho did for me!
I’m actually super happy that Sailor Moon was one of our first because I know for sure it has helped hundreds and hundreds of girls out there begin working out and feeling motivated to get into some form of training!
You can check out our Sailor Moon Inspired Workout here.
Number Twenty Three: Inuyasha
Seasons on Hulu: 5
Episodes on Hulu: 167
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
If you’re looking for your new favorite half demon, look no further, because Inuyasha has you covered…especially if you’re into super swordsmans.
Inuyasha is an EXTREMELY powerful half-demon swordsman who even made our list of the most powerful anime characters of all time, and the series has seven seasons on Hulu ready for you to take advantage of all his sword-wielding glory!
You can check out our Inuyasha Inspired Workout here.
Number Twenty Two: Gurren Lagann
Seasons on Hulu: 1
Episodes on Hulu: 27
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Gurren Lagann is a show that I was way late to the party on, but one I’m happy to have found (thanks to The SHJ Army) nevertheless.
We actually started with both Yoko Littner and Kamina here at SHJ and then eventually had Simon show up being that he is extremely powerful (and I had no idea at the time).
Gurren Lagann Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Twenty One: Yu Yu Hakusho
Seasons on Hulu: 4
Episodes on Hulu: 112
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite anime of all time!
That being said, it doesn’t necissarily rank as one of the top watched or favorited shows when compared to all the killer other options on this list, so I didn’t want to add to much of a bias when placing it into this and I wanted to keep it fair.
There are tons of amazing anime on Hulu so the fact that it at the very least warranted a spot in the top 25 is good enough for me!
Yu Yu Hakusho Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Twenty: Blue Exorcist
Seasons on Hulu: 1 each series
Episodes on Hulu: Regular = 25, Kyoto = 12
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 2
Simliar to Inuyasha, Blue Exorcists main character is a halfling as well. Rin Okumura is the son of Satan, and ironically enough him and his twin brother Yukio are out to defeat him (the Devil) and his demons!
There are more episodes out there (Netflix has 2 seasons and also has Kyoto Saga), but 25 episodes is a great place to start giving this one a shot!
You can check out our Rin Okumura Inspired Workout here.
Number Nineteen: Sword Art Online
Seasons on Hulu: 1 each series
Episodes on Hulu: Regular = 25, 2 = 24, Alicization = 24
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 3 Shows and a Movie
Next up on the list is a fan favorite among many members of The SHJ Army, but still comes in at nineteen because this is such a mega list.
Sword Art Online is one that I feel people either LOVE so much or have mixed feelings about; but I personally like it.
I’m curious to know where you stand on this one…comment below!
Sword Art Online Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Eighteen: Black Clover
Seasons on Hulu: 1
Episodes on Hulu: 51
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Black Clover is an anime I’m still working my way to.
I have watched a handful of episodes because I was curious about the background more than what I was able to learn about it while writing Asta’s routine, but haven’t been able to fully get into it as much as I’d like to.
From what I have seen and read, though, it’s something I fully plan on picking back up on Hulu as soon as I finish up a couple others I’m working on.
You can check out our Asta Inspired Workout here.
Number Seventeen: Assassination Classroom
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 47
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Next up is Korosenesei and Assassination Classroom!
I personally think if we left it to The SHJ Army and a handful of voters Assassination Classroom would have likely been ranked 20-25, but I have a soft spot for it so this placement might be some of my own bias.
I think the show is so fun and awesome and a quick but easy and light watch and it’s just a great one for anyone getting into anime or after watching the very best shows.
You can check out Korosensei Workout here.
Number Sixteen: Haikyu!!
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 50
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Up next is some volleyball!
Haikyu!! was our first ever anime inspired workout that was built off of a sports related anime (specifically based on Shoyo Hinata’s character), and The SHJ Army and Academy members absolutely loved it.
We’ll likely have some more sports-themed anime show up at SHJ, and even more from Haikyu!! in the future as well.
Check out the Shoyo Hinata Inspired Workout Routine here.
Number Fifteen: Bleach
Seasons on Hulu: 25
Episodes on Hulu: 366
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Starting us in our top 15 anime to watch on Hulu we have Bleach with 366 episodes!
There are a couple shows that just have SOOO many seasons and episodes for you to binge, and Bleach is up there with them.
They’re broken up in 25 seasons which seems like a ton compared to a show like One Piece that has 11 seasons with 750 episodes, but 366 still gives you a TON of hours to put in.
Bleach Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Fourteen: Fairy Tail
Seasons on Hulu: 9
Episodes on Hulu: 328
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Fairy Tail comes in with another set of massive amount of episodes with 328!
In just 9 seasons it has a ton of episodes, bringing it in the top fifteen anime to watch on Hulu right now, and our SHJ Army agrees.
We have a handful of Fairy Tail inspired workouts and a full list of requests for more.

Number Thirteen: Cowboy Bebop
Seasons on Hulu: 1
Episodes on Hulu: 26
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Cowboy Bebop comes in at number thirteen on the list and doesn’t make the top ten shows to watch on Hulu specifically because it never made it passed 26 episodes.
It’s amazing, which is why it still is ranked within the top fifteen shows with such an amazing overall list, but might leave you yearning for more.
Check out our Spike Spiegel Inspired Workout here.
Number Twelve: Fire Force
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 48
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Fire Force comes in next and this is a show I foresee being up there with Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen as new and super popular.
Both seasons are already on Hulu and they’re not only amazing, but Hulu seems to do a really good job at keeping up with new episodes and grabbing them as soon as they’re able.
This is definitely a great show to get started with and watch as much more comes.
Fire Force Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Shinra Kusakabe Workout Routine
Number Eleven: Tokyo Ghoul
Seasons on Hulu: 3
Episodes on Hulu: 48
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Tokyo Ghoul is definitely one that a lot of people would argue should be in the top ten anime on Hulu, but I have a personal bias to the rest from here on out just based on routines here on SHJ.
While Ken Kaneki is incredible and the show is awesome, there are just so many shows that come in just a bit ahead.
If you’re looking for an amazing anime to get into though: this definitely will not let you down.
You can check out Ken Kaneke Inspired Workout here.
Number Ten: One Punch Man
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 36
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
I’ll say it: One Punch Man is not one of my favorite anime.
I personally think it’s a lot of fun and pretty awesome, but it’s never necessarily lived up to the hype of which some other SHJ Army members hold it at.
That being said, I still think it deserves it’s spot in the top ten anime to watch on Hulu and it also is great for SHJ and training motivation in general!
One Punch Man Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Nine: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Seasons on Hulu: 3
Episodes on Hulu: 113
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
I love me some Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
I personally prefer The Stardust Crusaders, but even if you hop into Hulu and start from episode one (as you should), it’s still amazing from the very beginning.
Jotaro Kujo just happens to be a fan favorite…and a personal favorite as well!
Jojo’s Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Jonathan Joestar Workout Routine
Number Eight: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Seasons on Hulu: 1
Episodes on Hulu: 64
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
I think Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood could easily be in the top three shows on Hulu if it were based STRICTLY on quality of the anime as a whole.
Hulu has the same 64 episodes as Funimation and FMA is incredible; so this was an easy top ten, it just doesn’t happen to be the very best for training and SHJ standards.
Fullmetal Alchemist Inspired Workouts at SHJ:
Number Seven: Hunter X Hunter
Seasons on Hulu: 2
Episodes on Hulu: 79
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Hunter X Hunter is one of my top five personal favorite anime of all time.
You just can’t beat the adventures of Gon and Killua; unless of course they gave us more seasons!
The training, the eating, and the fact that it’s all around amazing makes it in the top ten anime to watch on Hulu BUT not quite in the top five being that the next handful are frontrunners among The SHJ Army and the requests that come in.

Number Six: Demon Slayer
Seasons on Hulu: 1
Episodes on Hulu: 26
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Just missing the top five anime to watch on Hulu is Demon Slayer!
I personally find it hard to believe that Demon Slayer doesn’t make the top five, especially considering how many requests come rolling in on a daily basis for more character inspired workouts, BUT then I scroll down and realize it’s actually possible.
Demon Slayer is onto an extremely strong start, similar to Jujutsu Kaisen and is definitely a frontrunner both here at SHJ and in general among newer anime releases.

Number Five: One Piece
Seasons on Hulu: 11
Episodes on Hulu: 750
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
Coming in at NUMBER FIVE on the top shows to watch on Hulu is One Piece.
I purposely capitalize number five for emphasis being that One Piece has a whopping 750 episodes and is clearly a fan favorite, but still comes in at five on the list just because of how many amazing shows there are waiting to be watched.

Number Four: Attack On Titan
Seasons on Hulu: Regular = 4, Junior High = 1
Episodes on Hulu: Regular = 75, Junior High = 12
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 2
Coming in at number four on the top shows to watch on Hulu is Attack On Titan which is just a front runner among The SHJ Army and nerds and weebs in general.
I mean…who doesn’t love them some Levi and Mikasa Ackerman?
Tack on the overall vibe and theme of SHJ and it’s a sure spot in the top five for AOT.

Number Three: Naruto
Seasons on Hulu: Regular = 4, Shippuden = 9, Boruto = 1
Episodes on Hulu: Regular = 220, Shippuden = 550, Boruto =193
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 3+
The fact that Naruto has so many episodes available on Hulu ALMOST made it number one or two on the list, but my pure bias opinion came in and slowed it down a bit, making it the third on the list of the best anime to watch on Hulu.
There are nearly 1,000 episodes to watch across all the different shows and The SHJ Army LOVES Naruto, which is why we already have our Naruto Inspired Workout Database (linked to below).

Number Two: My Hero Academia
Seasons on Hulu: 5
Episodes on Hulu: 90
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
My Hero Academia is giving Dragon Ball a run for it’s money as my favorite anime of all time.
Coming in at number two among the top anime to watch on Hulu this is an absolute no brainer to get into if you’re an anime fan or looking to become one.
It’s also number two because it vibes perfectly with training, Superhero Jacked and the love of Hero VS. Villain, among so many other reasons.
Basically what I’m saying is: you should go watch this right now if you haven’t already.
My Hero Academia Inspired Workout Database.
Number One: Dragon Ball
Seasons on Hulu: Dragon Ball = 5, GT = 2, Super = 1
Episodes on Hulu: Dragon Ball = 153, GT = 64, Super = 131
How Many Different Shows/Series on Hulu: 1
I almost put Dragon Ball at the number two slow just based on the sheer fact that Hulu doesn’t actually have Dragon Ball Z.
You can watch Dragon Ball, GT and even Super, but they are technically missing DBZ.
It’s a little bit of a bummer considering you should technically watch Dragon Ball -> DBZ -> GT -> Super, BUT not enough to knock it down a peg.
Dragon Ball Z and the universe is my favorite anime of all time and it’s what got me into anime in the first place (among shows like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Yu Yu Hakusho), so I always lean towards this when ranking it up against other anime.

That’s a wrap on our list of: The Best Anime To Watch On Hulu!
I also have a ton of runner ups and some other anime I want to name (and there’s even a ton of others not named passed this as well)!
